I see you are making use of the word as I did previously with my bad pun haha. Brilliant stuff.

Is the character entirely fictional? or based on someone in particular? albeit it isn't obvious a first glance there's a feeling of complicity there which becomes obvious to me at least. Of course perhaps I have had too much sake :D

Yeah I definately have been having too much sake. I made a similar comment on billsabub caption of some koi where he asked how many you could see and I replied that not that many as some were being rather coy duh haha.

I started painting this one because one of my other paintings was 'killed' by Photoshop hanging at the worst moment (during a saving session about 5 hours after last save).

The girl is a harmony of contrasts - she is unclothed yet not naked, she is either longing to be a carefree koi or satisfied with her solitude, her face and expression, though exaggerated with red, is masked with white.

I, too; could have had too much sake. =D

it's beautiful, almost dreamy. Nother play on words that comes to my mind is with shy and a comic book character Shy, who looks kind of like your coy lady :)
